Virus Sliding Rigger
Pronounced "vee' rus", this is a lightweight stainless steel rig
that is very rigid. It's excellent for strenuous rowing in non-sanctioned
competition or for a good workout. It's held in place by four anchors
and is easily removed for transport. The sliding rigger design provides
improved performance over sliding seat rigs, especially in shorter
boats. This is because the rowers mass is stationary, eliminating
pitching and slowing on the return stroke. The performance advantage
is great enough that they were banned from use in competition by
the international rowing committee. |
